God loves YOU. He does not love you because you deserve it, He loves you because God is Love (1 John 4:8-10). The Lord does hate sin and it grieves Him that the world is full of hate and corruption. God is just and so He will punish those who sin. Sin is anything we think, say, or do that breaks God’s law!
Jesus taught that the greatest of God’s laws are to love the Lord thy God with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your mind, and the second is equal to the first: love others the way you love yourself (Matthew 22:37-40). A simple lie, although it may not seem big, is selfishly breaking God’s law, and proving you don’t truly love a person you deceived. Selfishness or sin is what causes stealing, gossip, adultery, hatred, lust and covetousness (jealousy). Each of these acts is defiance against God’s love. We should love each other. We sin because we are selfish. Everyone on earth has broken God’s law.
This lack of love for God and sin in our hearts will be punished. This punishment is carried out in a lake of fire where we will be judged according to our works. (Revelation 20) God does not desire that people suffer hell, but He won’t allow sin and hate into heaven. He will justly correct all the wrongs of this life. EVERYONE will give account of their every thought, word, and deed on judgment day (Hebrews 9:27).
There is hope for us only because God’s Son, Jesus, proclaimed, For God SO loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)
Jesus was perfect. He healed the sick and fed the pour. He taught the way to God. But because Of religious jealousy he was lied about, slapped in the face, spit on, whipped till bloody, and crucified to a cross publicly. Jesus shed His blood to take the punishment for our sin. While on the cross He took our sins in His sinless body. When He died God looked on Jesus’ sacrifice and it appeased His justice so that we would not have to be punished. Jesus claimed to come from God and be one with God, because of His divinity that death on the cross was sufficient to relieve us of our guilt and shame.
Three days after dying Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to His followers. They were so changed by His appearance that most gave their lives to spread the news of forgiveness. Most of Jesus’ followers were killed because of their “new religion,” but the power of Jesus’ sacrifice couldn’t be stopped. The story of Jesus’ death for our sins and His physical resurrection is Called the gospel. (1 Corinthians 15)
I believed the gospel when I was in middle school and it has continued to change my life! God made it very simple to be saved from sin and punishment in hell. Anyone can be saved: no matter how sinful they are. God’s forgiveness through Jesus’ sacrifice is unlimited because He is God.
You can be saved from punishment and freed from darkness right now. Will you believe on Jesus? Will you Have faith that Jesus was punished for your sin, that He rose from the dead, and that He is the only way to heaven? (John 3:14-15) Jesus said, “whosoever believeth should not perish but have eternal life.” Jesus was the only sinless teacher who ever lived. He is the only God and the true God. He came to die for you so that you don’t have to die and be separated from Him. He can forgive your sins because He died for them. He can change your life.
You can pray to confirm your belief in Jesus as your Savior. It is not a prayer that saved. It is believing in Jesus as your God and the one to change your heart and forgive your sin. You can pray to confess your faith in Jesus as the only path to forgiveness and heaven.
Just pray to God, “I believe that I am a sinner deserving punishment and shame. But I believe that Jesus was perfect, that He died for my sins, rose from the dead, and that trusting Him alone is the only way to receive forgiveness and enter heaven. Right now I trust Jesus’ to save me. Thank you for forgiving me. I believe.”
Congratulations! You just joined the family of God. John 1:12-13 says “But as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, not of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” If you just believed on Jesus, God has made you a part of His family. He has made you new on the inside. You now have the Spirit of God’s power to walk as a Christian: to be like Jesus. This is a work God does when we believe on Jesus’ name.
Our own flesh (ability) is never enough to save or transform us. Good works do not remove sin. Religion just masks our selfishness in hopes that God will forgive. But Jesus came to take the punishment and forgive us so we can learn to forgive one another. You can never be removed from the family of Christ Jesus the Lord because it is God that makes you born into the new family of His.
